Laura Bischoff in our Columbus Bureau is reporting that Dayton’s fight over red light cameras is headed to the Ohio Supreme Court.
Here’s some of her report:
Love them or hate them, the argument over red light cameras in Ohio will resume next week when the Ohio Supreme Court hears arguments on a lawsuit launched by the city of Dayton against the 2014 state law that effectively bans the electronic traffic cops.
Dayton is arguing that three elements of the 2014 law are unconstitutional because they undercut local municipalities’ home-rule authority to self-govern. A [More]

The race for the U.S. Senate seat in Ohio this year was supposed to be one of the most competitive in the nation. It turned out to be a dud.
Polls earlier in the year showed Republican Sen. Rob Portman neck-and-neck with former Gov. Ted Strickland. Portman ended up winning the race 58-37 percent.
“Portman’s campaign was so effective that he barely needed to even worry about reelection after Labor Day,” Kraushaar wrote.

Take Our Poll
The poll of 500 likely voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent. The two polls show the presidential race in Ohio is extremely close.
But the poll indicates Trump is losing ground among independent voters. In last month’s poll, Trump held a 27-point advantage among independents compared to a smaller 6-point lead in the new poll.
“If Clinton takes the lead among independents, she wins Ohio,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Research Center in Boston.
The poll also showed Republican Sen. Rob Portman leading 46-to-31 percent over former Democratic governor Ted Strickland.
